Tamiya Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II in Debis livery

The Mercedes 190E Evo's became an instant touring car icon in the 90's thanks to incredible racing action, as they battled for victory alongside the BMW E30 M3's, Audi V8's and Opel Omegas that made up the grid of the DTM series at the time. The racing was fierce and drivers weren't scared of rubbing shoulders to get ahead. That made for some absolutely terrific racing, that marked the golden age of the DTM series.

Willi Weber, Michael Schumachers manager, wanted to give the young F3 star some more experience before getting him in F1 and gave him the opportunity to drive in other racing series for Mercedes-Benz. The results was some fantastic racing in the Sauber-Mercedes Group C cars as well races in the German DTM series. In 1991, he raced the Team Zakspeeds Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II with sponsorship from Debis.

This Tamiya Mercedes 190E is a replica of Schumachers 1992 racer, with a very high level of details. Parts like the frontgrille, mirrors and rear wing are molded separately to ensure an almost perfection re-production of the original car.

Built on the Tamiya TT-01 Type E chassis

The Tamiya TT-01 chassis is in itself a fantastic, well-handling chassis, but the Type E (E for Evolution) turns the handling up to 11. The TT-01E has a lower center of gravity, redesigned uprights and a second deck in FRP for a stiffer construction and improved handling. The steering system has also been redesigned with inspiration from the race-proven TA-05, for more precise steering and less play. If you wish to take the Tamiya Mercedes 190E to the track, the new transponder allows you to do so, while maintenance and adjustments has been made easier with the new, separate front and rear shock towers, that lets drivers adjust the gears without removing the shocks.

Combined with the slick tires, double wishbone suspension, four-wheel drive system with gear differentials front and rear, the Tamiya Mercedes 190E "Debis" makes for a fantastic touring car for both beginners and novice RC drivers.

The car comes with Tamiya's Torque Tuned motor, packing plenty of punch, but as with other Tamiya cars, there is an almost unlimited amount of tuning parts available, so you can customize your car and its speed exactly to suit you.
