Tamiya BBX - A brand new 2WD Buggy

With the Tamiya BBX, Tamiya launches an all-new rear-wheel drive buggy platform. The BB01 chassis on which the car is built takes all the best solutions from the popular 2WD buggies and brings them together in a new, updated package. The result is a really cool, realistic buggy.

The car is designed to resemble the wild Sand Buggies and looks incredibly realistic both with and without bodywork. The chassis consists of a monocoque with a plastic rollcage on top. This makes it both incredibly rigid and allows for very realistic bodywork to be mounted on it. However, the cage can be easily removed so that maintenance and repairs around the engine can be easily carried out.

The body can be easily removed.

The body was designed by Japanese Atsushi Arino and the realistic details on the Tamiya BBX are consistent throughout, with a small driver figure and chrome bead-lock wheels, headlight housings and brand new large tyres developed specifically for the car.

It's not just the look that's highly realistic on the car. The Tamiya BBX is designed to drive like a real sand buggy. The engine is located at the rear, just like the real buggies, and the undercarriage is also designed with inspiration from the real thing. There are double wishbones in all four corners, with A-shaped wishbones and trailing arm undercarriage at the rear. The shock absorbers are extra long and mounted at the top of the cage to provide effective absorption of even large bumps in the ground - just like on real buggies and UTVs.

The shock absorbers are oil-filled aluminium CVA dampers and the car comes with ball bearings and Universal Drive Shafts. The differential is oil-filled and comes from the fast TA-06, which means that many different upgrades can be used on the car.

The car is delivered with an oil-filled aluminium differential.

The Tamiya BBX is delivered without motor and ESC. We recommend the Hobbywing 1060 and a Tamiya Torque Tuned Motor.
