Tamiya Sand Scorcher is back!

That Tamiya is crazy about Baja buggies is obvious to anyone who knows a little about the brand. This Tamiya Sand Scorcher is a great example, with its Bettle body, rear engine and rear wheel drive is a close replica of the Baja 1000 buggies that were extremely popular in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Sand Scorcher was first launched in 1979 and quickly became popular worldwide. This version has been redesigned in 2010 to ensure that the quality and materials meet the high standards of modern times.

Truly well-driving buggy

The little buggy may look innocent, but underneath the bodywork is some serious RC gear! The chassis of the Tamiya Sand Scorcher is made of 2mm FRP sheets with aluminium reinforcements. This makes for a really strong and rigid chassis that can withstand rough terrain, but is also stiff and rides really well.

The undercarriage consists of four independent oil shock absorbers, with Trailing Arm at the front and Swing Axle at the rear. The Sand Scorcher comes with metal ball bearings that provide less friction and heat, and longer run time and durability. The carrying arms and suspension are molded metal while the clear plastic cover effectively keeps dust and grit away from the electronics.
