Tamiya 47486 1977 Tyrrell P34 Six Wheeler
Tamiya has relaunched the crazy six-wheel Tyrrell P34 Formula 1 racer before and now the ever-popular car is finally back again, this time with colors and details from the 1977 Argentine Grand Prix.
The car is built on the Tamiya F103 Formula chassis, which has rear-wheel drive and suspension in FRP. The tires are foam tires like on the old-school RC racers and the motor is included. The bodywork is injection molded in the characteristic white and blue colours.
Note: The car is delivered without an ESC. We recommend a Hobbywing QuicRun 1060.
About the Tyrrell P34 'Six Wheeler'
The first thing you notice about the Tyrrell P34 racer is of course the characteristic four front wheels on the car. The idea was that four small wheels would give a larger surface area with the asphalt, without destroying the car's aerodynamics with high and wide tires. The result was the solution here, with two small wheels on each side. When the car was first presented many thought it was a joke, but the car performed well and even took victory in the Swedish Grand Prix in 1975 with Ronnie Petterson behind the wheel. However, the design with four front wheels was dropped at the end of the 1977 season, as it was incredibly difficult to get it to work properly on uneven tracks - but the Tyrrell P34 went down in the history books as one of the most recognizable Formula 1 cars ever.
